Thomas Tuchel has called for Chelsea fans to be allowed to watch their Champions League quarter-final at Stamford Bridge after UEFA dashed their hopes of a fixture reversal.The first leg will be hosted at Stamford Bridge on April 6 after the two teams were drawn together in Friday’s draw in Nyon.
The return fixture has been scheduled for April 12 at the Santiago Bernabeu. Initial reports suggested the ties could be reversed due to a clash with Atletico Madrid's and Real Madrid's return leg in the Spanish capital on April 13.
UEFA rules state that two clubs from the same city cannot play on the same night in the premier club competition. But according to Goal, UEFA have confirmed the tie will go ahead as planned, meaning that the first leg between Chelsea and Real Madrid will be played at Stamford Bridge behind closed doors on April 6.
That will bring disappointment to thousands of Blues supporters, and Tuchel hopes that for the team and fans' sake they will be allowed into the stadium.“The challenge cannot be much higher than playing a second leg at the Bernabeu with spectators," he told reporters. "It’s a big challenge and there’s also big excitement around this fixture.
