James Corden exits from The Late Late Show after seven years to return to the UK

James Corden has reportedly resigned from The Late Late show after seven years of being the show’s host.The TV star, 43, made the decision to quit at the end of season eight despite the “desperate” efforts of CBS bosses’ to try and keep him for longer.James first joined The Late Late Show, which is based in Los Angeles, back in 2015.

It had been reported that show executives were willing to pay him £15million to keep him as the host for another two years.However, James has turned down the multimillion-pound deal, with sources raising that the Gavin and Stacey star plans to return home to the UK.

A source close to the presenter told The Sun: “This has been one of the hardest decisions of James’s life but the time is right after seven years.” Bosses were keen to see the English comic maintain his position on the show.A senior CBS source revealed: “We [CBS] desperately tried to keep him for longer but James only wanted to do one final year that will keep him on the show until next year.“He’s been such a hit for us for so many years, we will miss him very much.“It’s very rare to find a talent who can redefine a long-running format.
