Singer James Blunt claims he was diagnosed with ‘sailor’s disease’ scurvy - after going on a meat-only diet out of ‘principle’ against his vegan friends.
Blunt, 46, has revealed he became a “carnivore” for two month because he was surrounded by vegetarians. The ‘You’re Beautiful’ singer says he dined on mince and chicken for eight weeks - but ended up ill.
James says he was eventually diagnosed with scurvy - a disease resulting from a lack of vitamin C. Symptoms include weakness, feeling tired and sore arms and legs - and is normally associated with sailors and pirates.
Blunt says he went through the ordeal while studying aerospace manufacturing engineering and sociology at the University of Bristol.
