Charles Ingram
Charles William Ingram (born 6 August 1963) is an English novelist, computer repairman, and former British Army major who became known for being accused and convicted of cheating on the television game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2001, after winning the maximum prize of one million pounds. Following a lengthy trial at Southwark Crown Court, he was convicted on a single count of procuring the execution of a valuable security by deception. He was convicted of an unrelated insurance fraud in 2003, and ordered to resign his commission as a major by the Army Board.

ITV viewers were treated to some unknown behind-the-scenes filming secrets from Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? on Tuesday night.

The show is at the centre of new ITV drama Quiz, focusing on the 2001 cheating scandal involving Charles Ingram. Contestant Charles won the top prize money of a million pounds, but was very quickly accused of cheating after appearing to get help with the answers from his wife Diana, and another person in the studio.

But as the new drama continued on ITV on Tuesday night, the big moment that the infamous episode unfolded was screened. Viewers were shown what happened on-air, as well as the moments they didn't see from backstage.
