Inside Hollyoaks' Sally star's life - Corrie link, co-star feud and major career U-turn

Hollyoaks star Annie Wallace has played school headteacher Annie Wallace in the Channel 4 for seven years.The 56-year-old Scottish actress is the first transgender person to portray a regular transgender character in British soap opera history.Since making her Hollyoaks debut in 2015, Sally has been at the heart of many hard-hitting storylines including being revealed as the biological parent of John Paul McQueen.In upcoming scenes, Sally tries to keep the peace at home and resorts to asking James Nightingale for help with Mercedes McQueen's parenting situation.

As Sally takes centre stage to try keep the McQueens on track, Daily Star has taken a look inside Annie's life away from the village.Annie was previously a member of the National Youth Theatre in 1981, but she temporarily stopped acting to work in computer science and sound engineering.

She auditioned successfully for the Manchester School of Theatre in 2001, graduating in 2004. She then appeared in various Manchester theatre productions, including Withnail and I and Wyrd Sisters.

In 2011, she appeared in an episode of Shameless as school headmistress Miss Heller. Wallace is also a musician, with two albums written and recorded with collaborator John Beresford.She has also worked on several podcast comedy series as well as sound and video design for various theatrical productions.Away from Hollyoaks, Annie has appeared on Celebrity Mastermind, where she specialist subject was Doctor Who from 1970 to 1980.Annie worked as research assistant for ITV soap Coronation Street from 1998 to 2000.During her time on the show, Annie advised for and inspired the one of the most popular character of all time - Hayley Patterson (later Cropper).It was Hayley's tragic on-screen.
