During the rescue operation workers encountered a man asking for his briefcase, but chillingly firefighters later saw the same man dead in the wreckage.Since then a ghostly figure carrying a briefcase has been seen on the runway.

It even turned up on radar in the 1970s. But when emergency services rushed to the scene, they found no-one.Other ghosts seen at the airport include a grey-suited man sitting in VIP lounges who mysteriously disappears and even a vision in period dress thought to be highwayman Dick Turpin.Many travellers and staff at Honolulu’s Daniel K Inouye International Airport have reported seeing a ghostly lady with blonde hair and a white dress near one of the departure gates.It’s said she is the spirit of a woman who fell in love with a man who left on a flight but never returned.

There are also reports of poltergeist activity in the airport’s bathrooms, with unoccupied toilets flushing and unravelling toilet paper.
