Important new furlough changes come into force today - how your pay is changing

New furlough changes will force employers to make minimum contributions from today, as the Chancellor prepares to wind the job retentions scheme down from October.

Employers across the UK will have to start making salary contributions for all furloughed employees, in one of the biggest changes yet.

From August 1, firms will be asked to start paying national insurance and pension contributions - though the Government will continue to foot the 80% bill.

This means that while your pay won't change, the organisation paying it will - with firms asked to cough up around 5% per person.
