There are many misconceptions about the role of a funeral director, with the stereotype somewhere between mysterious and morbid.

But for former actor Mark Simpkin, who joined the profession two years ago, it was the best decision he ever made. The 47-year-old from Adlington, near Macclesfield, stumbled across the idea at a very difficult time in his life.
