How we brought stylish Parisian chic to our Victorian London home

how she wanted the rooms to look: full of uplifting colour and pattern, but she recognised that she needed a little expert advice to pull the decor together: “With my job, I see a lot of properties, and I pick up lots of ideas that I love, but I need an expert to keep me focused.” She enlisted the help of Katie Glaister and Henry Miller-Robinson from the interior-design firm K&H Design, who devised a scheme that brought together colours, motifs and materials in a controlled, cohesive way.From the moment you enter the house through the cheerful yellow front door, the mood is bright, happy and designed for family life. “The light in London is grey and can be dull,” says Gabrielle, “and for me, this colour recreates the sun.”This spirit continues in the hall, which is laid with a floor of multicoloured hexagonal tiles, and leads to a staircase lined with a custom-made geometric runner that echoes the colours of various other decorative elements as it winds its way up through the house.
