Before lockdown business was booming for Livingston-based Mattuga Rum, with an exciting year ahead planned. The family firm, run by husband and wife Jacine and Paul Rutasikwa, was founded in 2015 and now they produce the rum at their Scottish distillery.After a quiet January, they were looking forward to a busy year, but then the coronavirus crisis hit and things changed course.“The start of the year for us is always a little bit slow because of dry January, so we always look forward to the spring,” says Jacine. “As we became aware of what was happening elsewhere and how we needed to get ready, I'd say around March everything kind of ground to a halt.
