How exercise helped me reconnect with my teenager daughter

Her Spirit, there were running coaching podcasts. I didn’t even know what a podcast was at the time but I gave it a try; I went to see if I could jog around the park.I was red faced, puffing and panting, not really doing very well, but gradually I got a bit further and a bit further, and eventually, I asked if I could join my daughter in running up Totem Hill - we're quite flat around Nottingham, where I live, and that's the one particular steep hill and I managed to make it all the way to the top.

I was trying to keep up with her but I think she was thinking that if I could keep up with her then she would have to run a bit further and a bit better, so it spurred us both on and we kept it up together.

A few months into the pandemic, these two beautiful lakes opened for swimming near us. If you were under 18 you had to have a parent there so I went and sat on the edge to watch Summer swim.

I don't like going in water that isn't clear, I'm afraid to even go in the sea: I want to know what's beneath my feet. This was a murky lake.
