A devastated mum has told how she discovered a horse on loan to her daughter had been the victim of a horrific dog attack in Dumfries.
Kirsty McMath was checking on three horses in a field she rents at Park Farm on Saturday morning when she found 10-year-old Sunny with horror injuries including his jaw hanging off.
Teacher Kirsty, 45, said: “Two of the horses met me at the gate which was quite unusual. I noticed they had bite marks on their legs. “Sunny was in a corner in the field and I got a terrible fright when I went up to him. “His jaw was hanging off and he was splattered in blood.
I knew immediately it had been a dog.” Sunny has been on loan to Kirsty’s showjumper daughter Kasey, 14, and the pair had recently qualified for a big competition.
