Heatwave will see UK temperatures hit 25C one day this month after first seeing thunder

heatwave is set to see temperatures in the UK soar to 25C on one day this month, forecasters warn.That would smash the hottest temperature recorded so far this year of 23.4C at St James Park in London.This should come as no surprise after the Met Office warned: “There is an increase in the likelihood of warmer-than-average conditions in the month ahead.“Predictions are consistent in suggesting an increase in the likelihood of temperatures being above average overall.“While this doesn’t necessarily mean heatwaves will occur, it does increase the likelihood of heatwaves compared to normal.” According to independent forecaster WeatherTAB, things should really start warming up towards the end of May.

Specifically, they predict the mercury will reach its 25C peak on May 30. The three days before that will see Brits bask in glorious 23C to 24C temperatures.They also say that temperatures could breach 20C this Friday (May 6) and continue to do so for the following week.

Other forecasters agree that the end of May, heading into June, should bring some balmy conditions. Exacta Weather's James Madden said: "There is now the potential for a major spell of warm weather to develop during the latter part of May or early June."Unfortunately, we are set to endure some miserable, thundery conditions this week ahead of the heatwave.BBC Weather's Louise Lear warned of heavy and thundery showers for central and northern England from today (May 3).
