Gymgoers will not be required to wear face masks in gyms and fitness clubs

Those returning to the gym next weekend are not expected to have to wear face masks when they exercise. Government guidelines state face coverings must be worn in 'enclosed public spaces'.

From Friday it will be compulsory for shoppers to wear them with demands already in place on public transport. But many in gyms and fitness clubs, reopening for the first time since the coronavirus lockdown on Saturday, are expected be exempt.

Gyms are preparing to open their doors and are studying the strict instructions to protect members. There could be looser demands on face coverings when using the centres.
