Liam James Payne (born 29 August 1993) is an English singer and songwriter.

He rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction.

Payne made his debut as a singer when he auditioned for the British television series The X Factor in 2008. After being eliminated as a solo performer, he auditioned again in 2010 and was put into a group with four other contestants to form One Direction

Good Morning Britain star Ranvir Singh mocked Liam Payne's accent after his famous Oscars interview.Last month, former One Direction star Liam left viewers baffled when he spoke to GMB about Will Smith slapping comedian Chris Rock on stage at the annual award ceremony.The interview quickly went viral on social media, with many fans asking why the pop star appeared to be speaking in various accents, such as Welsh and American.Now, the singer is set to captain the star-studded England team at Soccer Aid alongside the likes of Tom Grennan and Robbie Williams.However, GMB presenter Ranvir Singh took a subtle dig at Liam's accent ahead of the annual charity football match on Thursday's GMB (April 28).She asked which accent Liam would be using to captain the team, given the numerous accents he seemed to use in the post-Oscars chat.The comments came during a Soccer Aid segment with her co-stars Richard Arnold and Tipping Point host Ben Shephard.Ranvir said: "I'm keen to know what accent Liam Payne will be using to captain his team."Ben replied: "Whatever he needs."Referencing the Oscars chat, Ranvir continued: "When he was on this show at the Oscars, he came out will all sorts of strange accents."Richard quipped: "My agent is currently looking at this going 'I get 10% of that!', which is not a lot."Ranvir then complimented Richard as she suggested: "You should get more than 10% of airtime in my view."Wolverhampton-born Liam had defended Will after the Oscars when he said: "I believe whatever he felt that he did, he had the right to do".He finally addressed the interview on an Instagram Live post where he admitted he'd had a lot to drink.Liam said: "I had asked Good Morning Britain, the presenter, I said, 'Please don’t ask me.
