A foodbank based in a church in Glasgow is in shock after a callous thief smashed their way inside to raid its supplies. Volunteers arrived at the Free Church of Scotland on Holmfauldhead Place in Govan on Thursday morning to find the entrance had been forced open and food had been stolen.
Glasgow Live reports that the thief was not able to make off with much. However, those working to help those in need in the area say they have been left "saddened" by the raid.
They are also counting the cost of having the door repaired – but have been able to carry on giving food to the hungry.A volunteer said: "We were adamant that the foodbank should go ahead as it's not the people who need the food's fault.
We did manage to get a new supply of food and also operate on the biggest scale so far – over 50 people were helped out."We were more than happy that they couldn't lift a lot away.
