The teen mutants are plagued by phantom apparitions and plenty of other scares, but director Josh Boone says there is also a "beautiful love story" within the movie. "Which I know is a weird thing to hear" he said to Entertainment Weekly.
He added: "It’s sort of the spine and focus of some of the character-driven stuff in the film." The New Mutants follows a group of mutants at a secret facility held there against their will.
