The release of The New Mutants has been pushed back to August 28 by Fox/Marvel, remaining on track to come out prior to Labor Day, Deadline reported.The Josh Boone film casts Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Alice Braga, Anya Taylor-Joy and Henry Zaga as a quintet of young mutants coming into their own while imprisoned in a secret facility, according to the studio.They're in a 'fight to escape their past sins and save themselves' in the summer superhero release, the studio said.

The New Mutants director Josh Boone has opened up on the delayed process of film production amid the $52 billion Disney-Fox merger, claiming reshoots were never done.'Everybody said we did reshoots! We've never done reshoots,' the filmmaker told Entertainment WeeklyMonday ahead of the movie's long-awaited release next month, two years after it was initially planned to debut in April of 2018.Boone told the outlet that the time that elapsed amid the merger of the corporations, the core cast - including Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Henry Zaga and Blu Hunt - had aged to a point where they would look notably different if they reshot any scenes.
