Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll has spoken openly about his struggles with alcohol and depression after finding life tough in lockdown.

The Northern Irishman has always been honest about his struggles in recent years.But before lockdown Carroll was working with Nottingham Forest's academy and giving talks to students and aspiring goalkeepers.All that work came to an end around 12 months ago, with the former Old Trafford stop-stopper admitting watching football in recent months has helped.Last year, Carroll joined FC Mindwell, a club set up for men with mental health issues, to raise awareness and help others - and also Dungannon Swifts.And the 43-year-old admits playing again has massively helped.
