The Tory welfare chief has refused to extend a £20-a-week benefits boost to disabled people - and told them they can just move to Universal Credit instead.
Work and Pensions Secretary Therese Coffey said severely disabled people on “legacy benefits” should "consider" switching to UC from this Wednesday if they want the extra cash.
Yet following her comments, a charity chief told the Mirror “we do not encourage” those people to switch to UC because “many will be worse off”.
A second charity, Citizens Advice, also urged any disabled person thinking of switching to seek advice as they may lose out - and once they have applied for Universal Credit, there is no going back.
