Derby County will play in the Championship next season after the EFL chose not to appeal the club’s £100,000 fine over some of their accounting policies – but opposition football fans aren’t happy.In a statement released on Friday the EFL said they were “disappointed” with the decision of the independent disciplinary commission that fined Derby for breaching the league’s Financial Fair Play rules.
The EFL added that they did not agree that the sanctions were “commensurate with the breaches found” but had “regrettably determined that there are insufficient grounds to appeal the sanction”.It means that Derby will retain their place in the Championship next season at the expense of Wycombe Wanderers, who stood to benefit if the Rams had been.
