Fans have rushed to defend BBC radio's Nihal Arthanayake after he was reprimanded for responding to racist trolls on social media.
The 52-year-old, who is active on Twitter, has been keen to call out those making racist remarks but the BBC have an issue with him swearing in his responses.
Radio 5's Nihal posted from his Twitter account: "The BBC has a go at me every time I swear at someone on here. It's hard not to at these racists." He tweeted this to his 115,000 followers on Sunday night, where many were eager to offer words of support.
Some fans shared their disbelief over the radio star's treatment following the offensive messages. One user posted: "Then the BBC should cut you some slack, we should all swear at racists.
