Boxing fans have been left furious with Anthony Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn after it was reportedly confirmed the rematch with Oleksandr Usyk will take place in Saudi Arabia.Sky Sports reports that management at the Jeddah Super Dome in Saudi Arabia have confirmed the 40,000 capacity venue will host the bout later this summer.
A date has yet to be confirmed for the rematch, following Usyk's unanimous decision win over Joshua at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September.However, the decision to stage the bout in the Middle East has been met with backlash from fans, who have taken aim at Joshua and his promoter Hearn on social media.One fan responded to the news by tweeting: "I LOVE sportswashing." While another added: "They talk about all this UK money but then take every fight to the Middle East.
The f*** Hearn?"A third outraged fan also wrote: "The fact this fight can’t be fought in the UK or another democratic country and in a disgraced country like Saudi Arabia really makes me question why I want to pay money towards it.
