The event will form part of the World Series of Darts, which will also visit Australia and New Zealand, plus venues around Europe, before culminating in the finals in Amsterdam in mid-September.The US Masters will see the eight North American representatives go up against top PDC stars like Peter Wright, Gerwyn Price and Michael van Gerwen, plus ‘Queen of the Palace' Fallon Sherrock.
Premier League stars Jonny Clayton, James Wade, Gary Anderson and Michael Smith will complete the eight PDC representatives.Despite there being almost 20 million regular players in the country, darts is yet to truly take off as spectator sport in the US.
But Hearn, who succeeded father Barry as PDC chairman last year, insists it is only a matter of time. “This event is the start of the American journey,” said Hearn, reported USA Today Sports. “Not only can everybody play darts, it’s more than that, the live spectacle is so much fun.
