Family forced to make 200-mile round trip to Scotland for Covid-19 tests

A family said they were forced to make a 200 mile round trip to get a Covid-19 test after lack of availability meant there were no tests at local sites.

Karen Reynoldson and her partner, David Smith, from the north east, said they had to take their two children on the "crazy journey" to Scotland after their eight-year-old daughter developed mild symptoms.

The family had to bundle daughters Sofia aged four and eight-year-old Neve into the car to make a 200-mile round trip from their home in Burnhope, County Durham, to Moffat in Dumfries and Galloway.

To make matters worse, during their two-hour drive there, she was told by her mum, who was also checking the availability of test times, that slots had become available in Newcastle, reports
