Families were warned by police after flouting lockdown restrictions at a popular beauty spot. Officers patrolling Rivington Pike near Bolton said they came across several people who had travelled to the area to exercise or take in the views on Easter Monday.

A number of vehicles were spotted on a car park and police soon managed to track down their owners before dispersing them. Ahead of the traditional Good Friday walk up Rivington Pike, police in Bolton had pleaded with people to stay at home.

Authorities closed roads around the heritage site to all but residents in an attempt to get people to heed coronavirus rules and prevent another opportunity for the virus to spread.
