Lee Sharpe has confessed that he still fears Sir Alex Ferguson ’s infamous “hairdryer” treatment more than 30 years after he joined Manchester United.
The winger, 49, said Fergie “caned” him for everything from his goal celebrations to having a mobile phone. He said: “I’ve been fearful of him from day one – from getting to Old Trafford to the day when I left.” He also said he thought he needed counselling because it still “does my head in”.
Fergie was feared by players for his verbal reprimands – known as the “hairdryer” – and even once kicked a boot into David Beckham’s face.
