David Moyes turned down the opportunity to bring Paul Pogba back to Manchester United in 2013. The Scot succeeded Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford but lasted just eight months before he was axed.
Poor recruitment in the summer no doubt contributed to Moyes' downfall in Manchester with Marouane Fellaini the only arrival.
United had identified Pogba but Cesc Fabregas became their prime target with Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward heading home from the club’s tour of Australia to negotiate a deal.
The Red Devils and Barcelona were unable to agree a transfer for the World Cup winner. Fabregas would move to Chelsea 12 months later and win the Premier League title in his first season at Stamford Bridge.
