Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson was forced to intervene as tempers flared in training ahead of the Champions League final of 2008.
United had not won the tournament in nine years ahead of the game against Premier League rivals Chelsea in Moscow, but they secured a famous victory after beating the Blues in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw after extra time.
Hargreaves - who played the full match and scored in the shootout - told that there was a hugely competitive mood within the squad ahead of the game.
