It is being sold by Kruse GWS Auctions in California at an Artefacts of Hollywood and Music sale on September 4.The 320 lots also include Marilyn Monroe’s black sleeveless “Wiggle” dress from the 1950s and Audrey Hepburn’s black woven wide-brim hat.Lead auctioneer Dame Brigitte Kruse said: “The sheer volume of iconic pieces of memorabilia from legends such as Elvis and so many other icons from the Golden Era are incredible.“This collection chronicles so many important moments in entertainment history.”The Elvis jumpsuit and cape was designed by the renowned costume specialist Bill Belew for Elvis’s first Madison Square Garden performance.The shows quickly became a sell-out, and the outfit was one of the most photographed of Presley’s.
