Elon Musk has for the first time taken the top spot as the world's richest man, overtaking Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, according to Forbes' billionaire rich list.Musk was worth a whopping estimated $219billion (£166bn) on 11 March following him adding a staggering $68bn to his fortune just over the past year.Bezos lost his crown at the top spot due to increased charitable giving and a 3% drop in Amazon stock, which wiped a staggering $6bn from his net worth.
The two incredibly rich men were among 2,668 billionaires on the Forbes list – which had decreased from last year's record of 2,755.
The mix of billionaires this year are worth $12.7tn (£9.7tn), down from last year's $13.1tn (£10tn).This year pop star Rihanna and director Peter Jackson joined 236 people in becoming billionaires for the first time.
There are currently 735 billionaires living in the US, while there are just 83 living in Russia. Russia had 34 fewer billionaires this year due to falling stock values and sanctions due to Putin's invasion of Ukraine.
