She met and married Richard Burton after meeting on the set of Cleopatra in 1962, and as a pair, they became one of the most iconic couples in Hollywood - and two of the earliest celebrities to be photographed by newfangled 'paparazzi' photographers - until they turbulently divorced in 1974 after a marriage that became fraught with arguments and Richard Burton's drinking problem.
