EASTENDERS legend Peter Dean has laid into the soap — complaining it has too many characters and episodes, and is too miserable.
The actor, who played original character Pete Beale on the BBC show, criticised his former employers after they began airing as many as four episodes a week.
Speaking to The Sun, the 81-year-old said: "Sometimes I watch and I think, 'Well, where am I now? What time of day is it?' I'd like to see that magic come back. "Also, it was only twice a week, people had it Tuesday and Thursday and would rush home from work to watch it.
Once they went four days a week, five days a week, people look in, look out, you know. You just pick up where you left off sort of thing." Producers for the long-running soap, now in its 35th.
