The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has issued an update clarifying whether or not benefit claimants can receive payments for Universal Credit and New Style Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) at the same time.
The DWP states that you may be able to claim New Style ESA with, or instead of Universal Credit, but it depends on your National Insurance record and people should be aware that any Universal Credit payment is reduced by the amount you get for ESA.
However, this isn’t as straightforward as it seems, but the DWP has provided a comprehensive list of examples covering different situations on the GOV.Uk website which indicates how much you could get from each benefit individually, or at the same time - find out more here.
