But it’s not just fans of the show that have been upset by the shocking storyline - the ITV soap’s stars have also been affected.
Corrie’s Ian Bartholomew, who plays abuser Geoff, revealed on BBC Breakfast that he has been given counselling after the grueling story has taken its toll.
His role as perpetrator Geoff has seen him act out the torture his on-screen wife Yasmeen, played by Shelley King. Ian and Shelley appeared on the morning programme along with Teresa Parker from Women’s Aid - a charity that has been helping the soap portray coercive control abuse accurately.
