Coronation Street has seen a 17-month high in ratings due to a week of episodes that focused on the coercive control narrative surrounding characters Geoff Matcalfe and Yasmeen Nazir.

New figures on the BARB website showing the final consolidated viewing figures, which includes recordings and catch-up, revealed that 7.89million people tuned in for the episode on Monday, 27 April.Three days later, on Wednesday 29 April, 8.08million viewers tuned in, while on Friday 1 May a whopping 8.16 million people kept their eyes glued to the screen to watch Geoff and Yasmeen's harrowing showdown.
