Corrie and Brookside star James Caroll dies suddenly as devastated pals pay tribute

Coronation Street and Brookside star James Caroll has passed away suddenly as his friends and former co-stars paid tribute to the actor.He was best known for his roles as Brian 'Bumper' Humphreys on Brookside between 1988 and 1991 and Mary Taylor's friend Colin on Corrie earlier this year.

The cause of his death is yet to be confirmed but the actor had previously fallen ill with pneumonia in 2020 but made a full recovery.

James also suffered with a condition which meant arteries in his brain could rupture at any time, with the star opening up about his health battle in a documentary on YouTube.

The actor told interviewers that he had to have surgery on his brain on the same day his son was due to be born. He said: "I've been with Justine now, what - nearly 13 years."Me and Justine have had so much fun in 13 years."It's difficult to think about concerns about not being here because - you know, without meeting Justine and without having the boys, I think about those 13 years."If I died tomorrow, I'd be a happy man."I wouldn't be up wherever I was, I wouldn't be bitter about it, because in life and experience and stuff like that, I've had just such good fun and such an amount of love and good times."It's difficult to think about concerns about not being here because - you know, without meeting Justine and without having the boys, I think about those 13 years."If I died tomorrow, I'd be a happy man."I wouldn't be up wherever I was, I wouldn't be bitter about it, because in life and experience and stuff like that, I've had just such good fun and such an amount of love and good times."The news of James' death was shared on Facebook, with his friends, fans and colleagues rushing to pay tribute to the Channel 4 and ITV star.
