The first coronavirus victim in the US died after her heart ruptured due to an attack from the disease, according to an autopsy report.
Patricia Dowd, 57, was the first person in the country to die from Covid-19 on February 6. The mum, from Santa Clara County, near San Francisco, was not tested for the virus so her death was unreported, but a recent investigation revealed the infection had spread to her heart muscle, which caused a valve in her heart to burst.
The autopsy report shows Patricia was suffering from flu-like symptoms days before her death, which doctors initially thought was caused by a heart attack.
