The European Union Is Banning Russian Media Outlets & Closing Airspace to Russian Airlines

The European Union is making some big announcements following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Russian media outlets Russia Today and Sputnik are now banned by the EU, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Sunday (February 27), via Variety.Click inside to read more… In a statement, the European Commission President said she will ban “Kremlin’s media machine,” adding that “state-owned Russia Today and Sputnik, as well as their subsidiaries, will no longer be able to spread their lies to justify Putin’s war and to sow division in our union.” The 27 nations in the EU will also close their airspace to Russian airlines.

Those countries are: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden. “We are shutting down the EU airspace for Russians.

We are proposing a prohibition on all Russian-owned, Russian registered or Russian-controlled aircraft. These aircraft will no more be able to land in, take off or overfly the territory of the EU,” she confirmed.

The EU is also planning to finance, purchase and deliver weapons to Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is refusing an offer to evacuate his country.
