Two police officers are facing a gross misconduct investigation after the deaths of two teens on e-bikes. Best friends Kyrees Sullivan, 15, and Harvey Evans, 16, both tragically died in the smash in Cardiff last month.
Following the tragedy, there were angry scenes on the streets which soon led to rioting. And in the wake of the boys' deaths, CCTV footage has shown a police van driving behind the two teenagers before the collision took place.
The clips were then referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) for investigation. The watchdog has since confirmed the two occupants of the vehicle have been served with gross misconduct notices.Such notices advise officers their conduct is subject to investigation.
They do not necessarily mean that any disciplinary proceedings will follow.As part of the ongoing probe, the watchdog will also review hundreds of video clips that gathered as a result of door-to-door inquiries and leafleting at properties in the area.A statement from IOPC reads: "To ensure we identify and secure relevant evidence, we have followed up enquiries with, and taken statements from, some local residents.
