The most recent outbreak of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo was all but over last week. Health chiefs were set to declare the epidemic which has killed more than 2,200 people since August 2018 over.
But a new rash of cases has raised concerns that the deadly virus could be on the rise again. Five cases have been reported in just a few days.
It’s not unusual for small outbreaks to occur towards the end of an epidemic. Normally doctors will order the victims to be quarantined to contain the spread.
But just over a week ago a 26-year-old electrician died of Ebola in the eastern town of Beni. Two further cases, a 43-year-old woman and the 28-year-old motorbike-taxi driver who brought the electrician to the hospital, have been reported
