Community groups are set to be more involved in the naming of streets across Renfrewshire in a bid to make them reflect local history better.Councillor Andy Doig asked his colleagues to rally behind his idea of consulting community councils about the naming of roads and developments at the latest full council meeting.Elected members voted unanimously for his motion while agreeing tenants and residents associations (TARAs) should also have a chance to have their say after Andy Steel put forward an amendment.Councillor Doig insists words often used in the naming of developments or streets sometimes don't really reflect their character or what used to be there, and he believes this could be improved with community input.
