Chelsea and Manchester City fans had to be separated by baton-wielding Madrid police on Tuesday.Around 8,000 English supporters made the midweek trip to Spain to watch their clubs in their respective Champions League quarter-final second-leg showdowns.
Chelsea faced Real Madrid on Tuesday at the Santiago Bernabeu while City take on Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday.
But video footage posted on social media showed the two sets of English supporters unable to put their rivalry to one side as they clashed in the capital’s Plaza Mayor Square.
It all kicked off with fans of the two clubs initially confronting each other with shouting and chanting.Things escalated when punches and drinks were thrown.
