‘Aussie-Geordie’ Paul Nicholson hit cameraman with a dart amid Adrian Lewis feud

One of his stormiest was with two-time world champion Adrian Lewis 10 years ago at the 2012 World Cup of Darts. Nicholson, who moved to Melbourne with his Australian partner in the mid-2000s, became a naturalised Aussie and therefore qualified to represent his new homeland.

It led to legendary commentator Sid Waddell labelling Nicholson the ‘Aussie-Geordie’.At that World Cup, he was paired with Australia’s top player at the time, Simon Whitlock.

However, going into the tournament, the pair were not on speaking terms. Not ideal in a two-player team! “Playing with Simon at the start of that tournament was difficult because we’d fallen out,” he told the PDC Darts Show podcast recently. “We’d played each other in a match in Ireland and it ended with us walking in different ways.
