One of his stormiest was with two-time world champion Adrian Lewis 10 years ago at the 2012 World Cup of Darts. Nicholson, who moved to Melbourne with his Australian partner in the mid-2000s, became a naturalised Aussie and therefore qualified to represent his new homeland.
It led to legendary commentator Sid Waddell labelling Nicholson the ‘Aussie-Geordie’.At that World Cup, he was paired with Australia’s top player at the time, Simon Whitlock.
However, going into the tournament, the pair were not on speaking terms.
