Within seconds there were hundreds of takes on that 4. 5 minutes of our lives we’ll never get back, now dubbed simply “The Slap. ” At first, the commentary was mildly entertaining, but by about 11am it was giving me a headache.
The only tweet that I could get behind was: “Y’all gotta wrap this conversation up by 2pm today please. ” What struck me was how seriously we all seemed to be taking the case of one rich and famous person assaulting another rich and famous person.
Some were saying Rock’s joke was entirely offensive to Pinkett Smith and other people with alopecia. Others were saying the gag was offensive to black women.
