A carer killed a "frail" pensioner when he barged into him as he was trying to steal cash for his girlfriend's shopping spree, a court has heard.
Jack Tebbutt, 20, took "hundreds of pounds" from a plastic takeaway box belonging to 66-year-old Howard Staff who he had cared for a number of times.
After Mr Staff, who used a Zimmer frame, fell during the attack inside his home in Wigston, Leicestershire, on January 13 last year he was rushed to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham and treated for a punctured lung.
However his condition deteriorated and a decision was taken that the pensioner would not have survived any treatment given in an intensive care unit and a no-resuscitation order was given.
