Cambuslang Rangers boss Paul McColl says big-spending clubs are “ruining the game” and that could prevent a rapid return to the West of Scotland First Division.The Wee Gers have been relegated this season as Maybole did enough to retain their status, and McColl says it’s going to be tough to get back out of the Second Division.But he has signed 18-year-old striker Godson Nechi on a new deal and hopes to keep 50 per cent of last season’s squad, as Cambuslang Rangers essentially start from scratch.McColl said: “It’s normal to say that you want to go straight back up, but it’s not as easy as it sounds or looks.“Two other strong teams have gone down [Whitletts Vics and Neilston] and you’ve got some teams that have come up.“All these teams are catching up, they’re all paying good money and they’re all getting better set-ups and all that stuff.“Once you start paying a bit of money, players will come to you.

Money is ruining the game, probably eight out of 10 teams now pay good money.“If you’re giving a guy a tenner and other clubs can pay £60, you know where they’re going.“We’re down a division, so last year we could probably get players who were in the Premier down to the First, but getting that to the Second is going to be hard.“It’s so difficult now to sign players, getting them to commit is absolutely brutal.“There are a few that will sign again, there are a few that will move on, and some of the guys who are good players will probably still think they’re better than that division – but they took us down.“But Godson Nechi has signed up again, and there will be a few others who will re-sign as well.“There will be some this week that I’m meeting, and there are quite a few who are definitely leaving, a few maybe want to go to
