Chelsea’s ludicrous £3billion price-tag as Roman Abramovich looks to raise a hefty sum from its sale.Russian billionaire Abramovich confirmed his decision on Wednesday to sell the club in an emotional message to fans, 19 years after first arriving in west London.Abramovic’s decision comes in light of the UK government’s expected sanctions as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, with reports suggesting the oligarch is looking for a whopping £3billion for his asset.

It comes after Britain’s richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe previously scoffed at the price-tag slapped on top English football clubs after speculation arose over his bid to buy the Blues back in 2019.Radcliffe told The Times in 2019: "Even though clubs have those valuations today, nobody has ever paid those amounts of money."How much did Abramovich pay for Chelsea, £100 million?

The Glazers, what £500 million? You can say it's worth three, four billion but no one has ever paid those sums."Ineos has always tried to take a sensible approach.

We don't like squandering money or we wouldn’t be where we are today. It's part of our DNA, trying to spend sensibly."Ratcliffe is known for having a season ticket at Stamford Bridge despite being a Manchester United fan.Want to be on the ball with all of the latest football news?Well then sign up for the brilliant Daily Star football email newsletter! From the latest transfer news to the agenda-setting stories, get it all in your email inbox - don't miss a thing. It only takes a matter of seconds.Simply type your email address into the box at the top of this article and hit 'subscribe'.And that's it, job done.
