A woman has been rushed to hospital after being struck on the head by a falling tree branch on a Scots road.Emergency services raced to The Mound, off Princes Street in Edinburgh, after the alarm was raised at around 8.40am on Monday, March 28.

A large branch was struck by a lorry, which caused it to overhang the road, reported Edinburgh Live. The branch was then struck by a bus and fell to the ground, hitting a person walking past.The 23-year-old pedestrian sustained a head injury and was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.Police say their enquiries into establishing the full circumstances of the incident are ongoing.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called around 8.40am on Monday, 28 March, to a report of a crash on The Mound, Edinburgh."A large branch was struck by a lorry, causing it to overhang the road.

The branch was then struck by a bus and fell to the ground, hitting a person walking past. "The pedestrian, a 23-year-old woman, sustained a head injury and was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. "Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."Lothian Buses confirmed that they were involved in the incident this morning and that they are assisting Police Scotland with their investigation.While confirming that the lorry in question initially struck the tree causing the branch to fall into the path of the bus, they also noted that no action against their driver or company will be taken.A spokesperson for Lothian Buses added: "We can confirm that one of our buses was caught up in an incident on the Mound this morning and we have assisted Police Scotland with their investigation.
