A Brit terrorist convicted of killing US journalist Daniel Pearl has had his death sentence overturned. Omar Saeed Sheikh, 46, was sentenced to death in 2002 for the brutal murder and abduction of the Wall Street Journal reporter.
Sheikh, a British national, has been in jail for 18 years awaiting the outcome of an appeal against the sentence, but will be out of jail "in a few days" after the Sindh High Court in Pakistan overturned the conviction.
Defence lawyer, Khawaja Naveed, said: "The murder charges were not proven, so he was given seven years for the kidnapping." He added: "Omar has already served 18 years, so his release orders will be issued sometime today. "He will be out in a few days." Omar had previously served five years in
